Every vintage tile we stock is slightly different with its own unique character. Whilst we have matching patterns colouring can differ from one tile to the next depending how it has aged and positioning in the room. The tiles are old original tiles reclaimed from buildings. They have rust and paint falling off them with slightly uneven edges.

Please be aware that each vintage tile varies in colour and condition.

We recommend building a lightweight wooden frame to attach the tiles onto. For more detailed information on installing the tiles see our Installation Instructions page.

Original vintage tin ceiling tiles sometimes referred to as Brooklyn tiles. They were prevalent along the Eastern seaboard States of America. These are reclaimed tiles from old American buildings. Originally used mainly on ceilings to decorate rooms but some public buildings had some wall tiles.

Production began in the mid 1850’s. They became popular in the 1900’s not only for their decorative look but as a cost effective product to use as a fire retardant in wooden building constructions. Also looked like decorative plastering so nick named a poor man’s plasterwork. They are much quicker and easier to install saving time and money.
